SmartPromo Setup

Overview, plus setup

Overview

A SmartPromo campaign measures how many downloads (and new listeners) are driven by your ads on other podcasts, or even other digital channels such as banner or programmatic ads.

Podscribe measures these campaigns similar to how we measure advertiser campaigns that use podcast ads to drive listeners to a website or app — through IP matching (advertiser measurement guide).

The main differences are:

  • We match exposed household IPs to household IPs that download the podcast being promoted.
  • We require, by default, the user agent (ie. the name of the app listening to podcasts, eg. Apple Podcasts) of both the ad listener and promoted podcast listener to match. This setting can be disabled though in your Overview tab.

Setup of SmartPromo campaigns consists of 3 steps:

  1. Place the Podscribe RSS prefix on your show being promoted (guide), so Podscribe can know which listeners download the promoted podcast.
  1. Create your SmartPromo campaigns on the dash (see below).
  1. Send out tracking pixels or the Podscribe prefix to publishers who will run campaigns promoting the podcast (guide).

Once you’ve completed the above 3 steps, you’re ready for results to come in!

Creating a SmartPromo Campaign on Your Dash

You can create SmartPromo campaigns directly on your dash. If you have greater than 25 campaigns/month, please email adops@podscribe.com to discuss how we could auto-import your campaigns from a CSV or your internal G sheet. Otherwise, see below!

Steps to create a campaign on your dash:

  1. From your SmartPromos > By Campaign tab, click Create Campaign
    1. Notion image
  1. Select Podcast (SmartPromo) , then select the podcast you’re promoting after typing it in:

  1. Complete the rest of the steps in the prompt. Select Feed Drop on the Placement step, if relevant:
